Congratulations to:- League Winner Sands B on winning the league on Monday night after beating the Dumfries Sports Club.
Rankings Winner Winner of the rankings 2009/10 is Steven 'Cheesy' McKinnon who finished on 66 points with Paul 'Diego' Hakness close on 65. Cheesy had played Steven Couper, after some safety play from both players Coup fouled, Cheesy came in and made a great clearance of the reds with a difficult black going in and a Cheesy smile at winning the rankings.
Scotland Teams
Congratulations to those who played for Scotland in the European Masters at Bridlington, Paul Harkness playing in the Scotland A team, Mark Donnan and Andrew Lammie in the Scotland Seniors with both teams winning their respective finals these players are to be congratulated.
Sporting Conduct Sportsman of the year goes to Diego, Sands B were meant to play Troqueer in their final game but Troqueer never had a team, instead of taking the points and the rankings title Diego asked to play his matches anyway and so Troqueer took the 2 players they had, Diego won his doubles and lost the crucial singles.
Knowing this result we decided not to tell the Sands A who were playing the Sports Club until Cheesy had won.
Singles Competition Stevie Couper became the youngest ever winner of the Dumfries Singles at 18 years old.
Coup got off to a dream start in the final, winning the first 3 frames. Richard dug deep to take the 4th but there was no stopping Stevie as he cleared up to win 4-1 and claim his first singles crown.
